We are in the process of implementing an enhanced version of the STAND program, which is not currently operational. In this interim period, there are several options:

  • If you are having thoughts of hurting yourself or someone else, immediately call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at (800) 273-8255 or 911.
  • Visit the UCLA STAND Together during COVID-19 webpage to access self-guided materials designed to lift moods and ease anxiety and depression.
  • Make an appointment with UCLA Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and review other available resources
  • Screen, track, and treat
    your mental health
Use the Mental Health Tracker, a 5 minute survey,
to check for anxiety and depression symptoms and
enroll in a STAND service right away
  • A research effort and mental health service
open to all registered UCLA students
STAND was established by the UCLA Depression Grand Challenge,
a research initiative aiming to cut the global burden of
    depression in half by 2050.

STAND is a system of care

By getting started with STAND, participants enter a system of care providing access to treatment for anxiety, depression, and related conditions. We use the latest scientific discoveries and provide interventions previously shown to be effective. Services are modified to fit individual needs.

Based on your Mental Health Tracker scores,
you will be recommended one of the following services:

Online Therapy with
Certified Support

Learn skills and strategies to reduce your symptoms from the comfort and privacy of your own space. Receive support and guidance from a STAND Coach.

Clinical Care

Receive in-person therapy from a trained clinician. Course of treatment will be personalized for you. Medication services are provided if needed.

Tracking Study

Monitor for symptoms and receive treatment should you need it. Help improve STAND’s ability to personalize the experience for current and future participants.

STAND was designed to provide
gold-standard treatment

Rates of anxiety and depression are growing and high-quality treatment is not always available. Our system of care integrates clinical experience with the latest advances in technology. This allows us to serve the growing population in distress and provide clinical care to those who experience the most severe symptoms.

Symptoms of anxiety and
depression include

  • Low mood
  • Feelings of worthlessness and guilt
  • Inability to experience pleasure
  • Anxiety, fear, and worry
  • Problems with concentration and memory
  • Appetite and sleep problems
  • Thoughts of suicide
  • Avoidance

STAND improves our understanding
of depression through research

STAND participants help future generations by providing their de-identified data for research. Scientific discoveries are immediately implemented within STAND and will be shared with the world to better society. Every participant consents to our research procedures.

We are grateful to everyone who contributes to this mission.
